We all know it - being a mom is one of the hardest jobs there is. It doesn’t come with a guide book or a manual, and when you have kids, connecting with other mothers and their children is one of the best ways to keep sane.

That is just what a group of Davis moms discovered and the playgroup I met this month is the result. I met the group at Davis Diamond’s gymnastics during their “Open Gym” period, the location chosen by this month’s hostess, Krista DeZerega-Thompson.

Over four years ago, eight moms met at the City of Davis program “Parents Together,” and the connection began. Shortly after meeting, they started getting together each week outside of the group with their children. “It was really casual at first”, says Tarri Swanson, mom of Lainey (4 1/2) and Ashyln (2), and one of the original members of the group. “Then we made a roster, got organized, and we’ve met once a week ever since.” Some of the members have changed through the four years they’ve been together, but three or four original members remain, and eight more have joined, bringing the group to twelve mothers and their children. Their name is “Our Wonderful Play Group,” further demonstrating how much they appreciate the group and its members.
